Midriff Records Party @ Radio, Somerville, MA
I recently had the chance to shoot some b-roll video footage on my DSLR for a pal at a show at Radio, a new bar and music venue in Somerville, MA. While there, I thought I’d casually shoot a few stills for kicks, too- you know, no pressure, just fun.
My buddy, Tom Bellotti, was shooting a video for a local band by the name of Eldridge Rodriguez. I had seen them perform once earlier, and just as Tom had said they would- they rocked. Edgy, garage-y, artistic, with a twist of electronic. Wicked cool stuff that’ll make you feel like you’re checking out something special in the “neighborhood.”
Cameron Keiber fronts Eldridge Rodriguez, and I was introduced to him at Radio the other night. Definitely a cool kid. He also runs Midriff Records, and some of the bands on his label performed that evening.
One of those bands was Lucky Dragon. Killer sound. The trio pushes out a dark surf-punk sound that grabbed my attention immediately. I talked to their guitarist, Ian Adams, that night. He has a crisp, searing, crafted tone coming out of his rig- which includes his guitar. He got the thing, which is a “cheap Les Paul knock off” as he put it casually, when he was like 14 or 15 years old. That’s dedication. I love it.
Check out the pics below, the first 4 images in the gallery are Lucky Dragon, the last 4 are Eldridge Rodriguez.
And seriously. Go check these bands out. Go to Radio, too. It’s a brand new spot with tons of potential and heart, I’ve been there several times and expect to return often.
