Nick: Bubble Bath
A friend I grew up with in Rhode Island, Nick Principe, is a guy who decided to follow his passions out to California to plant himself in the film industry, providing several services. He’s always been one of the most avid horror film buffs I’ve ever known- probably taking the top slot. Now he lives it, taking major acting roles in a number of horror films. Being a creative guy, he also has both a solo music project and a group hardcore music project in progress.
He and I had talked off and on for a few years about shooting some photos. When he came back into town for a visit this winter, we finally went for it. Time was a bit short, as it always is, but we threw something together without a hitch. I picked him up at the train station and we came back to my place to shoot some photos. He didn’t want to do standard headshot-style photos and he didn’t want to be made out to look like a tough guy. He wanted to infuse it with irony and humor. He just wanted to have fun with it, and he definitely came to the right guy. I love shooting this stuff. So, with him being a huge 6’7″ man covered in tattoos and a shaved head, I thought I’d put my buddy into a little pink bathtub for a bubble bath. It’d be hard to make him look too tough in there, right?
He was totally into it. These are just a few images from our quick shoot on a dark December afternoon, a few days shy of Christmas, in 2011. It was cool to shoot while experimenting with lighting equipment and a old pal (who’s also a huge slasher) in a tiny, pink bathroom under a very limited timeline.
I think the results are awesome. Hopefully we get to mess around some more before too long. Stay tuned, just in case.
Thanks Nick.
